Adjustment of Status in Removal Proceeding Approved for Indonesian Client in Sterling Virginia

CASE:  Adjustment of Status at the EOIR
CLIENT: Indonesian
LOCATION: Sterling, VA

Our client is an Indonesian citizen who currently resides in Virginia with her US citizen husband.  She entered the United States on a valid B-2 visa in 2000.  Later, she was granted withholding of removal by the Immigration Court.  She has remained in the United States thereafter.

In May 2017, our client married her U.S. citizen husband. However, for her to get a green card, her case should first be reopened by the Immigration Court for her to apply for adjustment of status.

Her U.S. citizen husband filed an I-130 petition for her and this petition was approved by the USCIS in January 2019. A Motion to reopen was filed and our client’s case was re-opened.

Once her case was re-opened, she contacted our office for representation of her. We were retained on December 16, 2019. On January 8, 2020, our office prepared and filed the I-485 Adjustment of Status Application and other supporting documents to the Arlington Immigration Court. In early 2023, her case was moved to Sterling Immigration Court and was scheduled for a merits hearing.

On February 21, 2023, Attorney Sung Hee (Glen) Yu represented our client at her Individual Hearing for adjustment of status at the Sterling Immigration Court.  The Immigration Judge granted our client’s adjustment of status relief.  Our client’s removal proceeding was terminated simultaneously. Now, our client is a green card holder.
