After we successfully helped our client, a U.S. citizen, obtain a green card for his Filipino spouse through adjustment of status, he retained us to petition for his three stepchildren residing in the Philippines. We filed the I-130 petitions on December 26, 2023, and they were approved in April 2025.
On May 7, 2025, we simultaneously submitted the immigrant visa applications for all three children to the National Visa Center (NVC). The cases were documentarily qualified just nine days later, on May 16, 2025.
The NVC forwarded the cases to the U.S. Consulate in Manila, and a joint interview was scheduled for September 10, 2025. Following the interview, the two younger children—who are twins—were approved for their visas and were able to travel to the United States immediately with our client. However, the Consulate issued a Request for Evidence (RFE) for the eldest child. We advised our client to undergo DNA testing in response. After submitting the DNA results to confirm the maternal relationship, the Consulate finally issued her immigrant visa. Although she arrived in the United States at a later date, the family is finally reunited.
