CASE: I-751
APPLICANT: Filipino
LOCATION: Strongsville, OH
Our client contacted our office in March 2025 regarding his I-751 application.
He is from the Philippines, and he married a U.S. citizen in July 2021. Through this marriage, he obtained a 2-year conditional green card in February 2022. His conditional residency expired in February 2024.
To comply with immigration requirements, our client and his wife should have filed an I-751 Joint Petition to Remove Conditions before February 2024. However, due to financial and health-related reasons, the couple could not file the I-751 application on time. The USCIS, however, still allows an I-751 applicant to file their application as long as there is good cause for the late filing.
He retained our office on March 6, 2025, and we prepared an I-751 application for him, including evidence of a bona fide marriage and a letter to explain their late filing.
On March 20, 2025, our office filed the I-751 application with the USCIS, including affidavits from the applicant and his wife to explain their late filing, and other joint documents to demonstrate the bona fides of their marriage.
In August 2025, the USCIS scheduled an I-751 interview for our client. Prior to the interview, our office thoroughly prepared him via conference call, discussing potential issues at the interview. On October 10, 2025, our client was interviewed for his I-751 application at the USCIS Cleveland, OH Field Office.
Eventually, on the same day of the interview, the USCIS approved our client’s I-751 application. He received his 10-year green card.
