CASE: Marriage-Based Adjustment of Status

Our client arrived in the United States from the Philippines on a J-1 exchange visitor’s visa to work as a trainee. Her J-1 visa was not subject to the INA 212(e) two-year foreign residency requirement. She married a U.S. Citizen in February 2025 and retained our office on February 17, 2025, for her green card application. Our firm prepared and filed the I-130 Petition and I-485 Adjustment of Status Application on April 1, 2025.
The process went smoothly; the receipt notices and the fingerprint appointment were all received on time. Prior to the interview, we thoroughly prepared our clients via conference calls. Our client was interviewed at the Lawrence, MA USCIS office on September 23, 2025. Her green card application was approved the following day, on September 24, 2025.
