CASE: I-130/I-485 – Marriage Based Adjustment of Status

Our client, a teacher from the Philippines, came to the U.S. on a J-1 visa. Due to her J-1 status, she was subject to the two-year foreign residency requirement.
In August 2022, she married her husband, and they subsequently filed an I-130 petition, which was approved in December 2024. However, she could not file for an adjustment of status until she obtained a waiver for her J-1 requirement.
After successfully receiving her I-612 waiver in March 2025, she retained our firm to assist with her I-485 application. We filed the application on April 15, 2025. Following preparation with our clients via conference calls, she was interviewed at the USCIS office in Durham, NC, on July 8, 2025. Her green card was approved just 12 days later, on July 20, 2025.
