I-130 and I-485 Marriage Based Petition and Adjustment of Status Approval for Filipina Client in Suffolk Virginia

CASE: I-130/I-485 – Marriage Based Adjustment of Status

 NATIONALITY: Filipina

 LOCATION: Suffolk, VA

Our client, a native of the Philippines, entered the U.S. as a J-1 teacher. Because of her J-1 status, she was subject to the two-year foreign residence requirement. While she wished to file her adjustment of status application concurrently with an approved I-130 petition filed by her U.S. citizen husband, she first needed to obtain a waiver. With our office’s legal assistance, she successfully obtained her I-612 J-1 waiver in September 2025.

Following the approval of her waiver, the client retained our firm to handle her adjustment of status. We prepared and filed her I-485 application on November 13, 2025. The process moved forward smoothly, with receipt notices, biometrics appointments, and work permits arriving on schedule. Prior to her interview, we thoroughly prepared our clients via conference calls. On January 22, 2026, the client was interviewed at the Norfolk, VA USCIS field office, and on May 22, 2026, her green card application was officially approved.
